A fresh musical drama featuring Hugh Jackman is set to hit cinemas in early 2026, with the actor appearing virtually unrecognisable in the newly released official trailer. Song Sung Blue is an forthcoming American biographical drama that pairs Hugh alongside Kate Hudson. The two Hollywood luminaries portray married couple Mike and Claire Sardina. In the preview, Hugh appears with lengthy hair and a freshly shaved face, transforming his appearance dramatically from his typical style. The Wolverine actor also sports extended sideburns. Song Sung Blue, adapted from Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary of the same title, follows Mike and Claire as they establish a Neil Diamond tribute act called Lighting and Thunder, which brings them “personal fulfilment” whilst nurturing a romantic connection. The ensemble also features Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir and Hudson Hilbert Hensley, reports the Mirror . The official preview for Song Sung Blue dropped on 12th September, prior to the film’s planned debut at the AFI Film Festival in October. The picture will launch in America on 25th December, before arriving in UK cinemas during January 2026. Enthusiasts have already expressed their anticipation for Song Sung Blue’s arrival, with one responding to the trailer: “Cannot wait for this movie!” whilst another remarked: “Looks promising.” Over on Hugh’s Instagram, he shared a preview of the movie along with the caption: “This is a love story. This is a film about second chances, family, hardship, great love and chasing your dreams. This film is a Christmas gift (with popcorn). This is @songsungbluefilm @katehudson @mybrewtube #christmasday.” His followers were swift to remark on his fresh appearance, with one declaring: “THE LONG HAIR GIVING VAN HELSING VIBES,” whilst another wrote: “Oh! New style! I like it!” A third admirer of the actor observed: “Hugh Jackman new look just wow,” and someone else concurred: “Hugh in long hair? OMG yes.” Production began in New Jersey last year and eventually concluded in December, with Amy Vincent serving as the cinematographer whilst Craig Brewer took the director’s chair. The picture draws from the true tale of a married duo who gained recognition in their local area after establishing a tribute act honouring 70s legend Neil. Mike was recognised for his impersonation of the chart-topper whilst Claire took on the role of American country sensation Patsy Cline. The couple never achieved success beyond their local community, though they did once provide support for Pearl Jam. Song Sung Blue will be released in cinemas in January 2026
