Samsung’s first tri-foldable phone has been eagerly awaited but it seems the company is not ready to announce the product just yet. Many reports said the device could be unveiled in September but news coming in from South Korea suggests there has been a delay in those plans, and the wait could go a little longer.
We have seen multiple updates regarding the launch, which was earlier expected along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 series in July and then August. But the new timeline being tipped hints at a standalone event for the tri-fold device which does merit purely on the basis of its purpose and uniqueness at least out of China.
Samsung first teased the tri-fold device during the Galaxy S25 launch in January this year, and since then we got rumours about its name which could be Galaxy G Fold series.
Samsung Tri-Fold Launch Delayed: What Now?
The first tri-fold device is now reportedly going to be launched around October-end or early November, as mentioned in a report by ETNews. This could be done at a separate event from the Project Moohan headset and the delay is being attributed to last minute improvements and making sure the product is in fine shape to be presented in front of the world.
Samsung’s tri-fold device is still a mystery at least in terms of the features and hardware but a new leak has hinted at its possible launch price. The details from South Korea suggest the Samsung tri-fold price could be around $3,000 (Rs 2.56 lakh approx) which takes it into the Apple Vision Pro territory.
Samsung will also have to factor in the cost of design and manufacturing such a unique device, and putting all that into one place, you have got a super-expensive product. And with a price tag like that, Samsung, as per reports, could limit its availability to regions like China and South Korea which is its home market.
Huawei showed us what a tri-fold device can offer, especially when you unfold them. You get a smartphone as well as a 10-inch screen like a tablet packing into one product. While Tecno has beaten Samsung by showcasing its concept tri-fold model back in July and will be part of MWC 2026 in Barcelona next year.
Tecno says its tri-foldable device has been divided into three sections like the other brands and has a folding design in G-shape. The company has made the inner screen foldable inwards in two phases, which is claimed to protect the panel from scratches. The secondary cover screen is the default size for a regular smartphone.
