20 Best Romance TV Shows On Netflix, Ranked

20 Best Romance TV Shows On Netflix, Ranked

From quirky comedies to somber dramas, some of the best romance TV shows are streaming on Netflix. The summer of 2025 was all about Prime Video’s third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, but Netflix also has plenty of swoon-worthy stories to choose from.
A truly great romance series dives into the hope of a first date, the promise of a new relationship, and the many problems that come up along the way. Whether you’re in the mood for a good cry, want to spend time in a charming small town, or want to revisit the pain and amazement of high school love, these memorable and moving series are worth adding to your Netflix watchlist.
Dash & Lily (2020)
This one-season show about strangers writing letters to each other during the holiday season is not just a fun winter watch; Dash & Lily is also a nice story about vulnerability, emotions, and feeling alone while hoping to meet someone who really understands you.
However, as Dash & Lily is a Christmas story, it might not be what someone is in the mood for all the time, — and it’s easy to describe it as “cute” rather than fascinating or wildly entertaining.
Sweet Magnolias (2020-)
While Sweet Magnolias focuses on the friendship between Helen Decatur (Heather Headley), Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliot), and Maddie Townsend (Joanna Garcia Swisher), matters of the heart are also explored in every episode.
One of the show’s most complex and interesting relationships is Helen and Erik’s (Dion Johnstone), as they go through a lot before finally finding happiness. It’s also fun watching newly single mom, Maddie, deal with her strong feelings for Cal Maddox (Justin Bruening). Some other series have more thrills, but Sweet Magnolias is very enjoyable.
From Scratch (2022)
Big-budget romantic comedies and gut-wrenching dramas aren’t the only places to find epic romance, as this series starring Eugenio Mastrandrea and Zoe Saldaña proves. Lino and Amy fall in love quickly, and while what happens next is predictable, it’s hard to tear your eyes away from the small screen as their epic connection is explored.
From Scratch is much sadder than many Netflix shows about love, so it might not be something you’re always in the mood for. It might not the most fun series to rewatch, either. However, you’ll be happy you met these characters, as their story is ultimately hopeful.
XO, Kitty (2023-)
Set in the same endearing world of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, XO, Kitty is all about the ups and downs of Kitty Song Covey’s (Anna Cathcart) love life.
Sure, some of the obstacles in Kitty’s way have been seen before, and the typical misunderstandings and miscommunications of the romance genre can be found here. But whether you’re a fan of the Netflix films adapted from Jenny Han’s young novels or not, this is still a great story with some interesting twists.
Too Much (2025)
It might not have gotten as much praise as Lena Dunham’s HBO series, Girls, but Too Much is a smart romantic comedy with a fun London, England setting.
Whether hilarious or serious, a love story is only as gripping as the two main characters, and Too Much gives us two likable protagonists in musician Felix Remen (Will Sharpe) and London newcomer Jessica Salmon (Megan Stalter). Typical romance challenges, like being envious and wondering if commitment is scary, are all part of the show, but it still manages to feel original.
Partner Track (2022)
Those looking for a swoon-worthy show might have missed Partner Track, since it’s a legal drama first and foremost — but it’s also about Ingrid Yun (Arden Cho) trying to find love.
In contrast to more obvious rom-coms or dramas, where you know exactly who will end up together, Ingrid’s one true love isn’t clear at all. That makes this a really fun watch. Every time you see Jeff Murphy (Dominic Sherwood) and Nick Laren (Rob Heaps), you try to figure out who’s better suited to Ingrid, and it’s a heartfelt ride.
Outlander (2014-2026)
Not everyone is a fan of period pieces — and some might prefer more contemporary romances — but Outlander is an exciting, fast-paced, and memorable series. It follows the connection formed between Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe) after the latter is transported back in time.
As the show involves time travel, it stands out against other historical dramas, and there are plenty of emotional storylines about hard topics, like loss. Every narrative comes back to Jamie and Claire, though, and the show does a great job ensuring no scene is dull by constantly putting obstacles in their paths.
Virgin River (2019-)
The long-running Virgin River has all the ingredients of a charming show: a small town location, a big city nurse ready to change her life, and a relatable love interest with a sad past and a good heart.
At times, Virgin River can be corny, and some other romances set in small towns are more well-done. But it has a passionate fan base ready and waiting for every new season, and it’s a feel-good, purely entertaining series. It’s also easy to root for Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Sheridan), as they’re clearly meant to be.
Love Next Door (2024)
The trope of old friends who develop feelings for one another never gets old, and it can make viewers feel hopeful about connecting with someone already in their lives. Netflix K-drama Love Next Door plays on that, but it also switches things up with its story about Seok-ryu (Jung So-min), who didn’t get along with Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in) when they were kids.
Love Next Door explores what happens when they’re older, and Seok-ryu moves back home, dealing with topics like growing up, forgiveness, and genuine friendship. It’s a heartfelt story everyone should see once.
Never Have I Ever (2020-2023)
A teen romance should make you remember the thrilling feeling of falling for someone for the first time, along with the awkward nature of crushes and the politics of who’s popular and who isn’t. Mindy Kaling’s Netflix series, Never Have I Ever, does all that, with a sweet performance from as Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as grieving teenager Devi Vishwakumar.
Devi is so endearing, and her main love interest, Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet), is deeper and more complicated than he seems at first, speaking to the show’s great character growth.
