North then turned his attention to his foundation, writing and television. He had a brief run as president of the National Rifle Association in 2018 but left after a year after threatening to expose the organization’s alleged financial violations.
Hall, on the other hand, disappeared from Washington and politics. She moved to California and married Danny Sugerman, the former manager and biographer of the Doors, in 1993. Sugerman introduced Hall to crack cocaine, and she went into rehab after an overdose the following year. Despite it all, they stayed together until he died of lung cancer in 2005.
North married Betsy Stuart in November 1968. In December of last year, North paid tribute to his late wife on Facebook: “We called her, ‘Mom.’ She was bright, beautiful, bountiful, and brave. This wonderful daughter, sister, wife, devoted mother of four, grandmother of eighteen, great-grandmother to one, and devout follower of Jesus Christ is now with our Lord and Savior. She personified Solomon’s description of “A wife of noble character” in Proverbs 31:10-31.”
Hall never remarried after the death of Sugerman.
Neither North or Hall responded to requests for comment. Perhaps they’re on a honeymoon. We hear Nicaragua is very romantic.
