NBA icon LeBron James opened up on his eventual retirement, as talk of the four-time champion hanging up his boots made the rounds.
The 40-year-old, in his 23rd season at the NBA, revealed that he is on the fag-end of his career, but brushed aside any talk of retirement at this point in time.
James’ contract with the Los Angeles Lakers runs until next summer, and the 21-time All-Star could have the freedom to decide his own future in the sport.

“I’m on the other side of the hump, that’s for sure,” James said
“I’m not going to play another 23 years, or even another ten,” he continued.
“I’m preparing for the end, but I’m not there yet,” the 2004 Rookie Of The Year added.
James scripted history when he played alongside his eldest son Bronny, making them the first father-son duo to share the court, and could add another coat of sheen to the achievement if he manages to play on for a couple of seasons with his second son Bryce making his way up through the ranks.
“Every time I start something new, it doesn’t mean I’m retiring,” he explained.
“Retirement is coming, but it’s not here yet.”
James proved to be influential in his side’s performance last season as he averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game, with 51.3% field goal percentage, as the legendary Lakers look to integrate Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves with an eye on the future.
While James’ advancing age pushes him towards an inevitable retirement, the superstar from Ohio has demonstrated his skill despite his years and has proven he deserves to be in control of his own future and eventual retirement.
“My retirement is near, but before I retire, I will get another Champion shot,” James said.
