Guyana Rugby Union conducts two school training camps

In an effort to expand and develop the sport at the grassroots level, the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) conducted a training camp at the St John’s and Christ Church Secondary Schools.

This was disclosed in a press statement from the GRFU on its official Facebook page. According to the post, the training camp was headed by newly appointed 7s Coach Stephen Lewis, who was assisted by national players Tricia Monroe and Carrin Carter. The post further stated that the camp featured in excess of 60 boys and girls, noting. “The initiative allows Tricia and Carrin to gain valuable knowledge from Coach Stephen, which they will pass on to other schools as grassroots rugby continues to expand. Developing youth talent is a key focus for the union as we work toward building a formidable team of young men and women heading into the next Olympic cycle.”
