Hundreds of US military leaders have been summoned by US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth for a mystery meeting. This was confirmed by Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell, who said Hegseth “will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week.” The reasons for the meeting, penciled in for September 30 in Quantico, Virginia, are still unclear. It’s expected that he will address senior officers. It comes as the Defence Secretary was re-titled by President Trump as the so-called Secretary of War. The meeting has been set for hundreds of generals and admirals in the US military, many of whom have schedules which are set weeks in advance, Ladbible reports. One congressional aide told CNN that unless he’s going to announce a “major military campaign” or completely changing military structure in the US, there’s no point of having the meeting. Another told The Washington Post: “People are very concerned. They have no idea what it means.” It comes as Donald Trump said he would make TikTok content “100% Maga if he could” after signing an executive order to allow the video sharing app to continue operating in the US. The Orange Manbaby said China’s President Xi approved a deal to put the app into US ownership. When asked if he’d like to see the app’s algorithm suggest more Maga-related content, he quipped: “I always like Maga-related. If I could, I’d make it 100% Maga-related. If I could make it 100% Maga, I would. But it’s not going to work out that way unfortunately.” He made the comments after signing a deal which would see TikTok’s US operations sold to a group of American firms after concerns were raised about who has access to TikTok’s data, and the influence the app has over US users. He added: “Everyone’s going to be treated fairly. Every group, every philosophy, every policy will be treated very fairly.” Trump said a group of “sophisticated” individuals who “love the country and have made a lot of money in the country” will be involved in the, including Dell computers CEO Michael Dell and media mogul Rupert Murdoch. He said: “We have probably four or five absolutely world class investors that love the country and have made a lot of money in the country and many of them are in a somewhat-related business so it works out pretty well.” Politicians in the US have previously raised concerns about TikTok , which is owned by Chinese company Bytedance, over national security issues and former president Joe Biden even signed legislation last year requiring it to hand over control of its US operations or face a ban.
