A pair of 1-2 teams from opposing conferences face off on Sunday, Sept. 28 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. where the New England Patriots are hosting the Carolina Panthers for Week 4.
This NFL game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on FOX. Fans looking to watch can do so for free by using DirecTV, which offers a free trial. FuboTV offers up to $30 off your first month. SlingTV doesn’t offer a free trial but has promotional offers available for streaming the game, and NFL+ airs all local market games, and NFL+ Premium allows fans to watch condensed game replays and all-22 coaches film.
The Patriots are coming off a difficult loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in which the Pats out-gained the opposition by more than 160 total yards and had nearly seven more minutes in time of possession, but they lost the turnover battle by four thanks to four fumbles and an interception. To add to the misery, the first fumble came on the opening drive, and another one of the fumbles and the interceptions came with New England at the Pittsburgh two-yard-line. The final fumble came in Steelers territory with the score tied and it was followed up with Pittsburgh going 62 yards for the game-winning touchdown in the 21-14 contest.
The Patriots are now 0-2 at Gillette Stadium but are hoping Sunday is the day they finally give the home fans something to celebrate. Through three games, Drake Maye is completing better than 72% of his passes and he has 785 yards and five scores, but he also has a pair of picks and was the one who coughed up that final fumble last week after his fourth of five sacks taken in that game.
The Panthers are coming off one of the most surprising results early in the season, a 30-0 thumping of the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers were out-gained by more than 100 yards, they only had 3.7 yards per rush and 4.6 yards per pass and they had twice as many penalties as their division rivals, but their defense had two picks and forced a fumble while the offense had just one fumble. The first interception was returned for a touchdown by Chau Smith-Wade and the second, by Mike Jackson, set up Rico Dowdle’s fourth-quarter touchdown.
