“Life of many renowned scholars and personalities have shown us that only education can empower us and take us to the next level,” said Supreme Court Judge Justice R. Mahadevan.
He spoke at the 26th graduation day of the Sethu Institute of Technology in Virudhunagar district here on Saturday.
Those lessons have also taught us that education stands above all other worldly luxuries like power and positions, he added.
Advising students not to lose any opportunities in their life, he said time and opportunities were the only two things that could never be regained once lost.
“Everyone should realise that college life though is filled with fun and carries immense importance in everyone’s life, it is also the basis of the life. Through the experiences gained there, one should learn to take life further,” he added.
The foundation for a happy life was to have a plan for the upcoming 10 years. “The plan when executed properly and sincerely will help take life in a right direction,” he noted.
Justice Mahadevan stated that education was the weapon which has the ability to transform the life of anyone willing to wield it.
Importantly, education was not just the lessons and subjects the students’ study in their colleges, but the worldly knowledge that one possesses through their lifetime, he added.
S. Mohamed Jaleel, Founder and Chairman, Sethu Institute of Technology, delivered the welcome address.
Mohamed Iqbal Rawther, former Chairman, Business Advisory Council, UN ESCAP, felicitated the gathering.
During the graduation day, 989 undergraduate candidates and 61 postgraduate candidates received their degree certificates.
