Harrowing TikTok live shows man at train station indecently touching intoxicated man

A witness to a Tiktok live stream allegedly showing a man at a train station indecently assaulting a semi-unconscious man has spoken of his distress after viewing the footage.

The clip, broadcast on the channel at around 11pm on Monday, August 18, was filmed at Edinburgh Park railway station.

The footage reportedly showed a man kissing and touching another man who appears to be heavily intoxicated.

The clip also allegedly showed the man with his arm round the other man as he slapped him repeatedly across his face. The second man can be heard slurring his words and saying “no”.

The second man then gets up and stumbles away from the scene.

British Transport police confirmed on Thursday that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

An anonymous social media user, who watched the live stream in real-time, told the Daily Record: “I was watching it live on TikTok as it happened. I felt absolutely disgusted.

“It was sickening. The man has a lot of followers and a lot of people were watching it and seeing that.

“It was me who reported it to the police.”

The TikTok user who shared the clip was joined by another man online during the stream. The pair appear to be friends. The other man is watching the scene unfold and is heard saying to the poster: “This just doesn’t feel right.”

Hundreds of viewers watching the clip also shared their discomfort in the comments.

One said: “This behaviour is concerning” while another wrote: “This isn’t normal”.

Another said: “This is getting bad” while referring to the intoxicated man some said: “He can’t even speak” and “he can’t hold his head up.”

A number of viewers said they would or had phone the police about the footage.

British Transport Police appealed for witnesses to the incident in a statement released on Wednesday.

A spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident at Edinburgh Park railway station.

“Just after 11pm on Monday August 18, a man was sat within the station on a livestream when a man approached him.

“The man who had approached was then subjected to indecent comments and touching.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to urgently contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 782 of August 18.

“You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

On Thursday the force added: A man has been arrested and charged with indecent communication. We continue to appeal for witnesses.”
