The terminology points up a problem in the evangelical church. A lot of Sunday services look like concerts. They are very informal, even casual. Church members bring their coffee or other drink into the worship space. Holding a service requires a whole technical team. People talk about being on the ‘stage’ and ‘performing.’ At the same time, they talk of ‘worshipping.’ There is confusion here, and folks have got to make up their minds whether they are doing entertainment or coming together to worship Almighty God.
