A 55-year-old teacher of a government higher secondary school near here has been placed under suspension for sexually harassing girl students.

Following complaints from the girl students of a government higher secondary school near here about sexual harassment by teacher Guru Vinayagam, 55, the education department officials conducted inquiry at the school and met the girl students.

As the inquiry found Guru Vinayagam guilty, Chief Educational Officer Sivakumar placed him under suspension on Friday, officials said.
