Aardra Keralam awards 2023-24 announced

Aardra Keralam 2023-24 awards for the best health sector-related activities taken up by local self government (LSG) bodies have been declared.

The comprehensive health schemes being implemented by the local self-government bodies with the cooperation of the Health department have made quite an impact in the health sector. In 2023-24, the LSGs have implemented health schemes worth ₹1,692.95 crore.

Aardra Keralam awards are aimed at encouraging the LSGs to take up more health sector programmes and also to encourage all allied sectors as well as people’s representatives to come together for implementing health projects.

The local self-government bodies are evaluated on the basis of the health budget, palliative care initiatives, Kayakalp score, utilisation of health grants, immunisation coverage, ward-level activities, social determinants such as water, sanitation, waste management, vector control measures and provision of physical infrastructure for promoting healthy lifestyles.

At the State-level, Vellinezhi grama panchayat of Palakkad, Palluruthi block panchayat of Ernakulam, Idukki district panchayat, Guruvayur municipality and Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation won the first place.

At the district-level, Karakulam (Thiruvananthapuram), Alappad (Kollam), Ezhamkulam (Pathanamthitta), Panavalli (Alappuzha), Vazhoor (Kottayam), Rajakumari (Idukki), Rayamangalam (Ernakulam), Karalam (Thrissur), Peruvamba (Palakkad), Vazhikkadavu (Malappuram), Kakkoor (Kozhikode), Edavaka (Wayanad), Kottayam (Kannur) and Kayyur Cheemeni (Kasaragod) won the first position.
