Eat Fit App re-launch: Your pocket guide to healthier dining & everyday wellness

We make hundreds of decisions about food every week — where to eat, what to cook, which brands to buy. Add in busy schedules, and it’s no wonder so many of us feel overwhelmed and are looking for a little extra support.
That’s where the Eat Fit app comes in. This mobile app has just been re-launched, with fresh updates and resources designed to make those everyday decisions a little easier. Free to download, the app is a practical guide for living well in real life — with healthier restaurant finds, recipes, brand-specific grocery guides and more.
This relaunch represents not just a reboot, but a recommitment to keeping healthy living accessible, practical and in step with real life. Here’s a rundown of the features, how to get involved and how to share your own expertise!
Dining Out Made Easier
At its core, the Eat Fit app helps you find restaurants that support your wellness goals. With over 500 partners across Louisiana, you can type in your zip code to see which Eat Fit spots are closest to you.
Tap into a restaurant’s listing, and you’ll find the dishes on their menu that meet Eat Fit nutritional criteria: no white carbs, no added sugar, minimal animal-based saturated fats, moderate sodium and an emphasis on lean protein, produce and whole-food ingredients.
Some dishes have nutrition facts and photos included (our team is continually adding more), making it easier to know exactly what to expect when you order. It takes the guesswork out of dining out, so you can focus on enjoying your meal without sacrificing health.
Eat Fit Recipes
The app also features hundreds of Eat Fit recipes, ranging from family-friendly weeknight meals and sweet treats to zero-proof cocktails and dishes inspired by local chefs. Each recipe is Eat Fit-approved, meaning it aligns with our nutritional standards while still delivering bold, satisfying flavor.
And here’s where it gets fun: We’d love to feature recipes from you. Do you have a go-to recipe that always earns rave reviews from family or friends? If you’re pretty sure that it also meets Eat Fit guidelines, send it our way (with a photo and permission to share) to nutrition@ochsner.org. We’ll review submissions for possible inclusion in the app, giving you credit (and letting you know) if it’s added.
Smart Shopping Made Simpler
One of the most practical resources within the app is the Eat Fit shopping guide, a brand-specific list that gives us one more way to make healthier choices less complicated. Think of it as your Eat Fit cheat sheet: a vetted list of products across categories like breads, condiments, dairy and snacks that align with Eat Fit standards. This way, you don’t have to guess which marinara sauce or yogurt is low in sugar and also free of artificial sweeteners. It’s like having a dietitian in your back pocket.
Connect With Wellness Resources
More ways to connect: The app also connects you to Ochsner’s “Find a Health Professional” tool — linking not just to physicians, but also dietitians, therapists and other professionals who can support your health. You’ll also find links to my Fueled Wellness + Nutrition podcast and WGNO TV segments, where we break down topics on all things wellbeing.
Plus, you can explore Eat Fit merchandise — books like Craft and The Eat Fit Cookbook, as well as hats and shirts representing Eat Fit regions across Louisiana.
Recommend a restaurant: Another feature we love: You can recommend a restaurant you’d like to see join Eat Fit. Maybe it’s your favorite neighborhood café or a beloved dinner spot — with a quick tap in the app, you can help us expand our network of partners statewide.
The Bottom Line
The Eat Fit app is a practical, no-cost tool to help make wellness more approachable — whether you’re scanning a menu, planning your grocery run or looking for dinner inspiration.
With the recent relaunch, the app is back as a reliable resource to guide your everyday wellness. Search for the free Eat Fit app, download it and see how it can simplify the everyday decisions that ultimately shape our health.
