Enga Province is set to host one of the country’s most significant gatherings as it prepares to celebrate Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary in conjunction with Enga Day from October 1-3, 2025, at the Aipus Rugby League Oval in Wabag.
The three-day event is expected to draw thousands from across the province and the country, with a program designed to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and embrace the future of both Enga and Papua New Guinea.
Celebrations will open on Wednesday, October 1, with a thanksgiving and dedication service acknowledging the vital role churches have played in Enga’s development.
The day will also feature the official welcome of the province’s resident judge and a Law-and-Order Summit at the Take Anda Amphitheater, bringing together leaders to address issues of peace, justice, and security.
On Thursday, October 2, the spotlight will turn to progress and development. Local institutions, businesses, and organizations will showcase achievements and innovations through display stalls.
Enga’s professionals and leaders in business and industry will also participate in a showcase highlighting their contributions.
The day’s highlights include a vibrant presentation of cultural and contemporary arts, singsings, and bilas, the unveiling of a commemorative monument at Take Anda, and the Miss Enga Pageant at the IUE Multi-Purpose Hall.
The final day, Friday, October 3, will feature the much-anticipated Enga Music Festival, with live performances by popular Engan musicians, other PNG artists, and local talent.
The celebrations will close with a firework display over Wabag town, marking the end of the festival and the nation’s golden jubilee.
Organizers have encouraged Engans to attend in large numbers, dressed in traditional attire, and to bring their families to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime event.
