The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, has commended the Federal Government for its recent strides in the education sector. The Archbishop gave the commendation during the Grand Finale of the Archbishop Adewale Martins Catholic Faith Family Project (Family Quiz Competition) held at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the Archbishop expressed optimism about the government’s initiatives, calling for sustained effort focusing on both private and public institutions.

“It is good that the government has made an effort towards the standardization of education in our country. It is a move that should be encouraged, and all schools public and private must work in alignment with it.

“However, while the government pushes private institutions to improve, it must also pay equal attention to public schools, which often suffer the most from poor infrastructure, lack of resources, and substandard conditions,” he said.

The Archbishop Adewale Martins Catholic Faith Family Project, an initiative that promotes religious education and family bonding through a quiz competition, began at the parish level earlier this year, where participants were tested on their knowledge of the Catholic faith, catechism, and scripture. The climax of the event was the grand finale held at Ikeja where Mr. & Mrs. Victor Udeozoh of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Baruwa, Ipaja-Ikeja Region won the star price of Toyota Corolla 2025 model. The second prize winner was Mr.& Mrs. Adzor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Badagry region, while the third and fourth winners were Mr. & Mrs. Onyekachi of St. Thomas Moore Chaplaincy Unilag- Lagos Region and Mr & Mrs. Ojeah of Our Mother Queen of Peace Abijo-Lekki Region respectively.

Archbishop Martins congratulated the families who won and praised the program for its impact on faith development in families.
