WWE legend John Cena is nearing the end of his official retirement tour, which has spanned the entire year and featured him winning and losing the Undisputed WWE Championship.
It’s also included numerous opponents, most of whom he’s fought in previous matches during his lengthy career. Most recently, he received another beatdown and loss at the hands of Brock Lesnar.
Following that disappointing loss at WWE’s Wrestlepalooza, fans seemingly booked Cena’s next opponent. After fans demanded Cena vs. AJ Styles online, both stars asked Paul “Triple H” Levesque to make the match, and he obliged.
The two wrestling rivals will face off at the next WWE premium live event on ESPN Unlimited, which is Crown Jewel set for Saturday, Oct. 11, in Perth, Australia.

That said, it leaves just four more opponents for Cena to face before he retires from WWE. One of Cena’s former co-stars recently offered some strong suggestions for wrestlers that Cena should face before he retires.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 20: John Cena reacts after his victory over Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championship during WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium on April 20, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During the Busted Open Podcast, host Dave LaGreca and co-host Bully Ray, also known as Bubba Ray Dudley in WWE, discussed the upcoming Cena vs. AJ match. Neither of them was too excited by it, but they mentioned it was a match fans wanted to see again.
LaGreca asked his co-host about fantasy booking the final matches for Cena’s retirement tour, and Bully gave four, all of whom Cena hasn’t battled in the ring yet.
He quickly listed Domenik Mysterio, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Gunther as his choices for who Cena should face.
Bully said: “Four guys that will benefit from facing John. The future of WWE getting a rub from John Cena.”
All four are significant stars, with some of them already holding championships. Dom currently holds the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the AAA Mega Championship.
Gunther previously held the Intercontinental Championship once and the World Heavyweight Championship twice. Meanwhile, Bron is a former two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion.
There was some speculation online that Cena might face Dom at an upcoming event. However, that hasn’t been revealed or confirmed anywhere yet.
In addition, Bully suggested that The Miz should continue demanding to have another match against Cena, since The Miz defeated Cena at a previous WrestleMania. He also speculated Cena and Brock might get back in the ring for a match, but on “opposite Survivor Series teams.”
