Bodycare has revealed it will shut 56 of its stores this weekend, in a move which will see all of the beauty chain’s remaining outlets close. The decision comes after the company announced earlier this month it had fallen into administration, saying the business had come under pressure from rising costs and a shortfall in funding, which also affected supplier relationships and led to stock shortages. Bodycare declared a series of store closures over the past month with 62 outlets having already shut their doors, including outlets across Greater Manchester in Bolton , Salford , Hyde , Rochdale and Royton. The high street chain was founded in Lancashire in 1970 and had outlets in shopping centres and across high streets within UK towns and cities. However the brand has now revealed it will be closing all its remaining stores tomorrow, September 27, after administrators at advisory firm Interpath confirmed a sale of its stores is unlikely. The final round of closures, which will take place on Saturday, are expected to result in 444 redundancies, with more than 1,000 Bodycare staff being affected by all closures. Nick Holloway, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, said: “We understand this has been a difficult period and so we want to further express our sincere thanks to Bodycare’s staff who, since day one of the administration, have maintained the strong standards of presentation and customer service that Bodycare was renowned for. “We will continue to explore options for the company’s assets, including the Bodycare brand, and will provide further updates in due course.” Interpath added there is still a possibility that it could find a buyer for the Bodycare brand.
