Lagos based football club, Seven Stars Like Mind, emerged cynosure of all eyes at the ongoing Penafort Energy/ PFC All Stars tourney in Ojo, Lagos.
The grassroots soccer competition which saw 12 teams jostling for glory, is gradually reaching climax following outstanding performances of teams and officials.
Host, Post Service Football Club is currently topping after acquiring maximum points in their last two games. The team in their quest for knockout ticket, recorded a lone victory against Pacific All Stars while underdogs, Seven Stars Like Mind sealed haters lips with a 2-1 victory against Okoko All Stars.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s match day 2 fixture also saw Great Friend’s All Stars floors Ajangbadi All Stars with a 2-0 victory afterwhich Sansiro All Stars test might against Big Brothers All Stars.
Reacting to the latest development, President of Post Service All Stars Football Club, Chief Simeon Emelife, emphasized on the philosophy of the club which centres on grassroots sports development and youth empowerment. He made it clear his club has also been in the forefront of touching the lives of retired football players. He remarked that since the tournament coincided with the 25th anniversary of the formation of the elite club, they’re poised to give it their best shot.
“PFC All Stars Football Club have been involved in youth empowerment and sports development over the years. We’re top-notch when it comes to bringing together budding sports stars, and giving them a sense of belonging. We’re using this opportunity to extend our hand of fellowship to the youth in Ojo and Alimosho axis to come to Post Service Football Club and key into the youth empowerment initiative that we’ve put in place,” said Chief Emelife.
Talking tough ahead forthcoming duels, Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Chief Chigozie Nwafor, reiterated the commitment of his team, Post Service Football Club to give foes a fascinating competition. He said the tournament comes with some mouth-watering incentives which include 3 million naira for the cup winner, 2 million naira for the runners-up, 1 million naira for the third place team, a trophy for the highest goal scorer, a trophy for the most valuable player as well as other tantalizing prices.
