Nebraska middle blockers Andi Jackson and Rebekah Allick will be all over the highlight videos of the Huskers’ 25-14, 27-25, 25-14 win against Maryland on Saturday at the Devaney Sports Center.
Allick had a match-high 13 kills with a .706 hitting percentage, and Jackson had nine kills while hitting .800.
Allick had kills on seven of her first nine attempts of the match. Jackson was remarkable in the third set, combining with setter Bergen Reilly for hitting attempts that looked unstoppable for the defense. Jackson killed each of her four attempts in the final set.
Harper Murray added 10 kills, two ace serves and 10 digs.
Nebraska dominated Maryland in kills (49-25), blocks (11-4) and digs (48-33). Nebraska had a .360 hitting percentage and limited Maryland to .090.
Nebraska is 12-0 this season and has won at home 52 times in a row.
To start the match, Maryland actually had a lead. But Nebraska dominated over the second half of the set, winning 17 of the final 24 rallies of the set.
Maryland couldn’t get kills against the Huskers. Nebraska’s four blocks and 14 digs in the set contributed to Maryland having a negative hitting percentage.
During the second se,t Nebraska tried out a two-setter rotation that put Reilly and Campbell Flynn in the back row and either Virginia Adriano or Alllie Szech hitting and blocking in the front row.
It only went OK. The Huskers nearly lost the set after leading 20-15. But Jackson bailed the Huskers out with two big kills and a block at the finish, and Murray put down a back-row attack on set point.
