St. Edward efficient in bounce-back win vs. Bishop McNamara (video)

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Zach Hackleman tied his single-game school record with three touchdown receptions. Brandon White ran through and around defenders in the first half to build a big lead and Jonny Evanchick orchestrated most of the St. Edward’s efficient game Saturday to lead them to a 57-19 win vs. Bishop McNamara.
Evanchick completed 8 of 12 passes for 114 yards, while junior Langston Lucas added 64 yards on two passes. Both found Hackleman, who finished with 155 yards and his three TDs on six receptions.

White rushed for 124 yards and two TDs on 15 carries. All but 3 yards came in the first half, as the Eagles (5-1) built a 35-6 halftime lead on their visitors from Maryland.
They committed no turnovers and did not punt, bouncing back from last week’s 21-14 loss at Massillon. St. Edward, which entered the week No. 3 in the cleveland.com Top 25, also committed just two penalties, one on offense.
Landon Lehmer came up with an interception off a pass batted at the line of scrimmage in the second quarter by Brendan Shultz, setting up one of White’s touchdown runs.
Most of Bishop McNamara’s success came from the arm of K.J. Underwood, who completed 16 of 22 passes for 238 yards and two TDs. The Mustangs rushed for only 31 yards against the Eagles, who return to First Federal Lakewood Stadium next Friday against rival St. Ignatius (1-5).
