Strange Maryland laws you might not know you’re breaking

More than 400 new laws are set to take effect in Maryland next Wednesday. But there are some still on the books that lawmakers should consider removing.
Here are some laws you may not know you’ve been violating:
No fortune-telling without a license
Fortune tellers, palm readers and soothsayers who provide services in Calvert County must apply for a business license through the clerk of court and pay a $1,000 license fee. Before they are issued a license, applicants must be fingerprinted, have their picture taken by state police and obtain a certificate verifying they have never been convicted of any crime other than a motor vehicle infraction.
The license is only valid for three months. Violators may be convicted of a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of $100 to $500 for practicing without one.
