TBBT’s Stuart Spinoff Reveals Leonard Alive After Young Sheldon Finale

TBBT's Stuart Spinoff Reveals Leonard Alive After Young Sheldon Finale

If Leonard finally returns to The Big Bang Theory universe in the upcoming spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, this plot could undo the Young Sheldon finale’s most infamous shortcoming. The ratings of Young Sheldon’s finale alone prove that The Big Bang Theory’s first spinoff was a huge hit right up to the show’s last episode.
It was hard to imagine any way for Young Sheldon’s last episode to outdo The Big Bang Theory’s series finale, but the show managed this by bringing back Jim Parsons as an older version of the iconic title character. Not only did Sheldon return, but viewers also got to meet an older Amy, and Sheldon even mentioned Penny babysitting their daughter.
Young Sheldon’s Finale Didn’t Mention Leonard’s Fate After The Big Bang Theory’s Ending
Fans of The Big Bang Theory Noted Leonard’s Absence From The Finale’s Flash Forward
Of course, fans of the legendary sitcom will no doubt have noticed that one major character was missing from Young Sheldon’s finale. Johnny Galecki’s Leonard was neither seen on-screen nor mentioned in Young Sheldon’s last episode, leading some fans to wonder whether he had been killed off by the franchise off-screen.
Fortunately, The Big Bang Theory’s next spinoff can now clarify Leonard’s fate early on and debunk this morbid fan theory. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe sees Kevin Sussman reprise his role as Stuart, the comic book store owner who was close friends with Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, and Howard in the original series.
According to the show’s official synopsis (via Variety), Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will see Stuart travel the multiverse after accidentally destroying the original show’s universe while handling an invention created by Sheldon and Leonard. While destroying The Big Bang Theory’s universe is a wild premise, the new show can ironically fix the original show’s canon with this premise.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Can Clarify Leonard’s TBBT Franchise Fate
Leonard’s Survival Is Almost Certainly Guaranteed By The Spinoff’s Premise
Since Leonard invented the device that Stuart accidentally uses to destroy the universe, this means that he is alive and still a part of The Big Bang Theory’s fictional universe when the series begins. This is great news, as it means that Stuart Fails to Save the Universe can quickly and decisively prove that Young Sheldon’s finale didn’t kill off Leonard.
It always seemed relatively unlikely that The Big Bang Theory universe would quietly retire Galecki’s iconic character without explanation. However, since he went unmentioned in Young Sheldon’s finale, it was hard to tell where the character stood after the spinoff ended.
Although The Big Bang Theory’s Leonard wasn’t perfect, he was one of the most iconic sitcom protagonists of the 2000s and 2010s. As such, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe can make a lot of The Big Bang Theory fans happy by undoing the Young Sheldon finale’s big mistake.
