Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated an automated multi-level shuttle parking facility in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash-I M Block market on Saturday and said that her government aims to establish nearly 100 such facilities across the city to address parking woes.
The parking facility in Greater Kailash-I, built at a cost of ₹63.74 crore and spread over 2,245 sq. m, can accommodate 399 vehicles. “The automated parking system will reduce traffic congestion and provide a safe and organised parking space for citizens, making their commute smoother and more convenient,” said Ms. Gupta after inaugurating the facility.
She added, “Parking is a major issue in Delhi. It causes disputes among people. Our government is working to resolve this problem through technology-driven solutions. Our target is to set up around 100 automated parking systems in different parts of the city.”
Earlier in the day, Ms. Gupta laid the foundation stone for a foot overbridge near the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Centre, which is spread across both sides of the Ring Road, with training grounds located separately from the main campus.
“This is a Deepavali gift for our brave soldiers who were earlier forced to go through a dirty tunnel under the road. As soon as the Rajputana Rifles team informed us about this problem, our government got into action and approved the construction of the foot over bridge,” the CM told mediapersons.
Continuing with her public engagements for the day, Ms. Gupta attended a Ramlila at DDA Ramlila Ground in Rohini Sector 23. “Ramlilas inspire the new generation with moral values and give a vision for developed Delhi,” she said.
The Chief Minister said that all necessary arrangements are in place for organisers and devotees to ensure the smooth conduct of Ramlilas.
