Gayle King left stunned as CBS Mornings co-host Tony Dokoupil launches stinging attack on liberal Jimmy Kimmel

Gayle King was left speechless on Thursday over her CBS Mornings co-host Tony Dokoupil’s blunt commentary about Jimmy Kimmel.

King had been discussing the TV presenter’s return to late night and how it drew his largest audience in years, despite it not airing in nearly a quarter of American homes due to TV operators Sinclair and Nexstar refusing to broadcast the show.

‘Which kind of makes the numbers even more extraordinary – a big chunk of the country couldn’t get it,’ she noted.

Discussing the many millions of views Kimmel received on YouTube and other social media platforms, Dokoupil cut in with a dose of reality.

‘But the 26million [views] on social media, most of that money doesn’t go to ABC,’ he said.

‘And the business is bad if you’re offending half the country – ones that voted for the guy he doesn’t like. So. Here we are. Good luck, late-night.’

Dokoupil’s frankness appeared to leave King momentarily stunned in her anchor chair.

Disney decided to ‘return’ Jimmy Kimmel Live! to the air on Tuesday night, nearly a week after he was suspended for his comments about the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

The host was slapped with a four-day suspension for saying the ‘MAGA gang’ was ‘desperately’ trying to distance itself from accused killer Tyler Robinson, on September 15.

Sinclair and Nexstar, two local-level broadcast companies that own about 70 ABC affiliates, still refuse to air Kimmel’s show over his comments.

Trump had used social media to attack Kimmel and other late-night hosts for months before his suspension.

King, a longtime co-host of CBS Mornings, has also been singled out by the president.

Last month, he wrote in a Truth Social post that ‘Gayle King’s career is over.’

‘She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never dared to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!’

King responded to Trump’s claims, saying: ‘Well, I’m sorry he feels that way.’

‘But I’m just going to — I like my job, continue to do a good job.’

Trump shared a report where sources told the New York Post King was part of a group of staffers that ‘has “dug in” against attempts by higher-ups to move away from polarizing coverage.’

CBS Mornings, hosted by King since 2011, has been plagued by poor ratings. Her contract is up in May.

Well-connected sources told the Daily Mail that CBS News executives will ‘most likely’ not renew her contract when it expires.

The network’s parent company, Paramount Global, recently merged with Skydance Media, giving control of the company to the son of billionaire Trump ally Larry Ellison.

The deal drew attention after receiving FCC approval just days after CBS announced the cancellation of its own late night host, Stephen Colbert. The show will end in May as well.
