Two Trucks Carrying Ballot Papers Break Down in Ntcheu and Mzuzu

Two trucks transporting ballot papers broke down yesterday in Ntcheu and Mzuzu.

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) confirmed the incidents in a message posted on its official Facebook page.

According to the post, a Malawi Defence Force (MDF) truck carrying ballot papers for the northern region constituency of Nkhata Bay broke down in Mzuzu. The drivers were instructed to stop at the Mzuzu Police Station while awaiting mechanical inspection.

Another truck transporting ballot papers for the central region constituency of Chikwawa broke down at the Njolomole/Tsangano junction in Ntcheu. Authorities, including the police and other stakeholders, were informed and waited for a replacement truck to transfer the ballot papers.

The distribution of ballot papers to all regions across the country began yesterday from Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe, with just five days remaining until the election.
