Well-known shop closes suddenly after almost five decades

A well known bike shop which has been established in Swansea for 47 years has closed its doors suddenly. M&P, located at Phoenix Way, Garngoch Industrial Estate in Gorseinon, has been a leading destination for motorcycle enthusiasts for generations. The specialist offered a wide selection of bikes, parts, gear, and accessories catering for bikers. WalesOnline understands that around 50 staff were informed they would be made redundant on Monday, September 15, and were let go by the firm on Wednesday, September 24. On its official Facebook page, a post has been put out containing a graphic with the M&P Cycles logo, together with the words 1978 – 2025. Ride in peace.” Its profile also read: “The store is permanently closed with no access.” Hundreds of people responded to the post, describing themselves as “shocked and saddened” by the news. One person wrote: “Such a great loss to the two wheeled world. “They’ve been a regular source of service parts for me for years.” Another wrote: “The M&P catalogue was a part of motorcycling, get a new bike, grab the catalogue and start planning purchases. “A big, sad loss in many ways.” Another added: “Thank you for your amazing service to us motorcyclists.” M&P Cycles was contacted for comment, but referred WalesOnline to licenced insolvency practitioners RG Insolvency.
