Detroit Lions vs Cleveland Browns keys to victory, facts to know, and final score prediction

The Browns’ offensive line has allowed 60 pressures this season. Surprisingly, there have only been six sacks, but that is a product of Joe Flacco checking down or getting the ball out fast. Pressure is big, though, because it gets Flacco off of his spot and forces him to make some bad throws. This season, he’s been picked off four times in three games.

Get The Run Game Going

This might seem like something that’s super easy to do, but the Browns’ defense has allowed the fewest rushing yards in the league this year, with just 172 yards given up on the ground. They’re not just a pass-rushing defense; they’re a complete unit.

Cleveland Browns Run Defense Facts

The good news is that our Browns beat writer, Brandon Little, believes that the Lions have something that none of the Browns’ previous opponents do. “…Detroit, however, presents a different challenge. The Lions’ offensive build forces defenses to respect Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta in the passing game—before even factoring in two versatile running backs who can make plays through the air as well. The Browns haven’t faced an offense that is built to this degree yet this year. With Cleveland sticking to bringing four the majority of the time, it only takes one crease for a playmaker like Gibbs to break a big one. The Browns’ run defense has been excellent through three games, and that’s no fluke—it’s who they are. But even elite defenses have down weeks, and Detroit has the personnel to challenge Cleveland on the ground.”

If the Lions can get the ground game going against the Browns, they will be able to get their play-action game going as well. If that happens, as we know, the Lions can get a lot of points on the board. If they can’t, it makes things a lot harder.

Final Score Prediction

With all that said, we’re ready to make our final score prediction. At the end of the day, the Lions’ defense should be able to take care of business against this offense, and while scoring on the Browns won’t be easy, I don’t see Detroit running up the score in this one, I think they score enough to have a comfortable win. Lions win 28-10.
