A housing association with homes throughout Wishaw has confirmed the retiral of its chief executive early next year. Trust, which absorbed the old Wishaw and District Housing Association back in 2019, have confirmed Rhona McLeod will retire from her role as chief executive at the end of March 2026. Rhona said “I have had over ten wonderful years as Trust’s CEO. I have had the opportunity to get to know customers and colleagues across the length and breadth of Scotland. “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to lead Trust through a fundamental stage of our growth and success. Most of all I have valued the very spirit and ethos of Trust. “Our culture and values are the shining crown of all that we are and all that we do, where colleagues regularly go the extra mile to be there for our customers, for each other and for the wider organisation itself.” Rhona played a key role in the process in the transfer of engagements from Wishaw & District Housing Association (WDHA) to Trust back in December 2019. One of the key promises made during that time was to develop the old Tesco site in Wishaw Main Street for housing. WDHA first revealed plans for new homes on the site in 2013, with the aim of completing the build by 2015. But those plans eventually came to fruition with the delivery of 42 energy efficient, social rented flats in the heart of Wishaw in 2023. Dr Norval Bryson, Trust’s Chair, added: “Rhona has led Trust with great skill and drive through some difficult times including COVID, economic turmoil and the cost-of-living crisis. “We have also had the great benefit of her superb motivational and team building gifts, which are so responsible for the culture of Trust. “We are all going to miss her very much.” A Trust spokesperson continued: “Recruitment for a new Chief Executive will begin shortly. Rhona will work with the Board and colleagues to ensure a smooth leadership transition during the appointment of an outstanding candidate who can build on Rhona’s legacy and lead Trust forward into the future. “While Rhona has shared her retirement plans, she remains fully focussed on her role as CEO and will continue to drive the organisation forward over the coming months and lead on the development of Trust’s new five-year strategy. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Rhona for her exceptional service and leadership, and we look forward to celebrating her contributions with colleagues and partners across Trust and the sector in the months ahead.” *Don’t miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
