Wake Forest started their season with home wins over Kennesaw State and Western Carolina, but ran into trouble in their last matchup, a 34-24 loss against North Carolina State. The Demon Deacons held a 24-17 lead at the half, but didn’t score again. Robby Ashford led the passing attack with 252 yards on 21 completions, but his two interceptions made a big difference.
