Des Moines superintendent, who was arrested by ICE, being held in Woodbury County Jail

SIOUX CITY — Ian Roberts, the superintendent of Iowa’s largest school district, who was arrested Friday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is being held in the Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center.
A jail log search for the Woodbury LEC shows that Roberts, who was detained Friday, was booked at 5:14 p.m., Friday in Sioux City. The charge given is “Warrant foreign” and no bond amount is listed.
The arrest of the longtime educator, who ICE says was in the country illegally and had no work authorization, has received national and international coverage as Roberts is one of the highest profile civilians to be detained by the federal agency since President Donald Trump retook the White House in January.
