‘Bogus Will Deprived Us’: Karisma Kapoor’s kids to court over Sunjay Kapur’s real-estate row

On Thursday the Delhi High Court heard arguments in the ongoing property dispute involving the late business tycoon Sunjay Kapur. Karisma Kapoor’s children Samaira and Kiaan have contested what they call a “bogus will” claiming it unfairly denied them their rightful share of Kapur’s estate.
For the unversed Karisma was Sunjays second wife. The two had a son and a daughter — Kiaan and Samaira. Karismas kids have alleged that Priya who is Sunjays third wife has withheld documents and details about the will.
Jethmalani further submitted: “Two bank accounts which we noticed were part of the will were emptied between August 22–26. This is the conduct of a person who is now asking for confidentiality. The most valuable aspect of the will shown to us is six percent of the company which has also been appropriated by the defendant.”
On the other hand the dispute also centred on whether details of every asset owned by Kapur should be made public or not. Priya Sachdevs counsel urged confidentiality and requested that the list which includes the names of movable and immovable assets be filed in a sealed cover.
Addressing Jethmalani the court said: “Is it alright if I say none of you will leak it? Let’s put an end to it.” While Jethmalani agreed he added: “I’ll make an oral statement. But the reality is it will leak! This prayer is being made only because they want to keep the content secret. This has never happened even in far bigger cases.”
Priya Kapur’s lawyer also refuted the media speculation stating: “Why can’t it happen? We are supposed to have debates of assets in the public domain. There is a trial in the media. Every day there is something in the media. The court should order that people should not go to the media. I am inviting a gag order on myself as well.”
