The upcoming Ramayan film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, and Sunny Deol, is taking deliberate steps to ensure accessibility for audiences across age groups and backgrounds. The makers are simplifying the Hindi dialogues to make the epic’s narrative easier to follow. It aims to simplify the film for both domestic and international viewers. The first installment of the two-part series, which includes cameo appearances by Yash and Sunny Deol, is scheduled for release during Diwali 2026, with the second part set to hit theatres in 2027.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, Yash essays Raavan, Sai Pallavi portrays Sita, and Sunny Deol takes on the role of Hanuman. Given the film’s foundation in India’s ancient scripture, the production team wanted to avoid overly complex language that can often make such narratives difficult to follow, reports ETimes. Television adaptations of Ramayan in the past have included archaic words and phrases that were challenging for contemporary audiences to relate to.
A source close to the production explained to the news site, “Though the source material is the ancient text which is layered with philosophy and poetry and deep spirituality, Nitesh Tiwari along with his team of writers have taken special care to simplify the Hindi dialogues so that the narrative resonates with audiences across age brackets and backgrounds.”
The team also consulted language experts extensively to strike a balance between maintaining the sanctity of the original scripture and making it understandable for modern viewers, ensuring that no one feels alienated by the dialogues.
The film is also expected to be dubbed in English, Mandarin, and Japanese to reach a global audience.
The first part of the film has completed its shoot, which was filmed on a specially constructed set at Film City in Mumbai. The project has now moved into a lengthy post-production phase to finalise visual effects and other technical elements. As planned, the first part will release on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in 2027.
While everyone is eagerly waiting for the movie, it has now been reported that Ranbir has decided to adopt certain lifestyle changes for Ramayana.
On Friday, popular paparazzo handle Viral Bhayani shared a post, which mentioned that Ranbir Kapoor and quit alcohol and has turned vegetarian to play lord Ram in Ramayana. Reportedly, the actor is focusing on a strict sattvic diet, early workouts, and meditation to embody the spiritual discipline of the character.
An insider close to the actor and to the film revealed that Ranbir decided to take these steps to reflect purity while playing Ram on screen.
Interestingly, Ranbir has also talked about quitting smoking in the past, after the birth of his daughter, Raha. “Right now, the focus is just to spend time with my daughter. I have changed a lot of my lifestyle. I have quit smoking and drinking. I am really trying to clean up my life. I have entered my 40s and want to be healthy for my kid and for myself,” he had said.
