He knows how to complement that heater with a splitter and cutter—both under 90 mph. Dylan Ross is placed 20th among Mets prospects in MLB.com’s ranking.
Dylan Ross has a decent 2.17 ERA which is great; however, there’s one thing that makes him a risky asset. It’s his control. Ross has walked 5.5 batters per nine innings this year in the Minors.
He happens to be a part of a certain group of pitchers that the Mets were keeping in shape in Port St. Lucie at their Spring Training complex. It’s just two hours from Miami and any time now he’s expected to get called up.

Although The Athletic was the first to report Dylan Ross’ call-up news, the Mets are yet to officially confirm it. Ross recently had a stunning outing for Triple-A Syracuse and is expected to join the majors as soon as this Saturday in Miami, per an industry source.
Across 28 appearances for Syracuse, Dylan Ross has managed to put up a 1.69 ERA with 39 strikeouts over 32 innings. The Mets would probably use him for seventh-inning duty and will be considered for mid-leverage situations if he’s called up.

Dylan Winton Ross hails from Statesboro, Georgia and was born on September 1, 2000. Interestingly, he has an athletic family background. While there’s not much about his parents—Mary Allison and Tony Ross—but his grandfather, John K. Small, was an NFL first-round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 1970. He even played seven whole seasons in the league after an All-America career at The Citadel.
In fact, it’s been said that Dylan Ross wears #66 to honor his grandfather. Moreover, Ross’ brother, Dalton, is also a baseball player. He pitches for the University of Tampa.
Coming back to Dylan, he did his major prep from his high school—Georgia Premier Academy. He went 4-2 with a 4.52 ERA in nine starts for the Sox as a senior. After that, he did his major in sport Management. Ross, for his freshman year, attended Eastern Kentucky University. Further, he played for the Seminole County Snappers before getting transferred to Northwest Florida State College (junior college).
After the Mets selected him in 2022, he had undergone Tommy John surgery and missed the 2023 season.
