Global Student Prize 2025: Each year, millions of students worldwide strive to make a significant impact in education and social service. This year, around 11,000 students from 148 countries applied for the Global Student Prize. This year’s top 10 finalists include youth who have made substantial contributions to society alongside their studies. Among them is India’s Adarsh Kumar.
These students have elevated STEM education, made artificial intelligence accessible to the public, and worked to connect children from marginalised communities with digital education. The winner of the Global Student Prize will receive $100,000 or Rs 88 lakh, awarded by the Varkey Foundation and Chegg.org.
Who is Adarsh Kumar?
Adarsh Kumar, hailing from Champaran district in Bihar, has made it to the Global Student Prize top 10 list. Despite coming from a modest background, Adarsh continued his education and initiated projects like ‘Skillzo’ to create opportunities for others. His efforts range from Covid-19 vaccination campaigns to tree plantation programmes and the establishment of schools. Alongside Adarsh, students from countries like Canada, Britain, and Spain have also become finalists for their remarkable work in education and society.
Adarsh Kumar studies at Jayshree Periwal International School in Jaipur. His mother manages the family alone. Despite financial constraints, Adarsh studied using an old laptop and free online resources. He started the platform Skillzo, which provides leadership and training opportunities to underprivileged students. Additionally, Adarsh has led several social initiatives, including Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, setting up government schools, and tree plantation programmes. He has helped over 1,300 families so far.

Here are the top 10 finalists of the Global Student Prize 2025:
1. Adarsh Kumar (India) – From Champaran, Bihar, Adarsh runs the mentorship platform Skillzo with limited resources.
2. Fatma Deniz Aydin (Turkey) – Developed adaptive curriculum for children with cognitive impairments, reaching over 10,000 children in 47 rehab centres.
3. Valeria Corrales (Spain) – A student from Huesca, Corrales is the co-founder of the YouTube channel ValPat STEAM, which provides free STEM education.
4. Grace Liu (USA) – Operates Research to Empower, a programme teaching children how to conduct research to find answers to their questions.
5. Dalia Zidan (UAE) – Launched a science journal that amplifies children’s voices to inspire young people to pursue science and education.
6. Adama Finda Borway (Sierra Leone) – Provides skills training and a safe environment for girls to help them continue their education and progress.
7. Gaston Diaz (Argentina) – Contributed to legislation for digital and financial education, benefiting millions of students.
8. Omar Ahmed (Egypt) – Runs a coding channel on TikTok for Arabic-speaking children and develops technical devices to assist those with illnesses and disabilities.
9. Krishiv Thakuria (Canada) – Creates AI tutors and voice-operated toys for children, aiding those who struggle with reading. He is of Indian origin but resides in Canada.
10. Shohail Ismail (UK) – Conducts AI literacy programmes for socially disadvantaged young people to help them secure better jobs.
