Record-breaking night headlines Muskegon-area football highlights for Week 5

The Kent City football team has dominated the line of scrimmage so far this season on its way to a 5-0 record.
The Eagles took their vaunted rushing attack to a record-setting level on Friday night, however, as they rushed for 355 yards and seven touchdowns in a 67-0 win over Lakeview in Central State Activities Association action.
The 67 points scored set a new school record for points in a single game.
Levi Thompson led the way for Kent City with 113 yards rushing and one touchdown on just four carries, while Cooper Stinson added 72 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. Andre Meade was 3-for-3 passing for 105 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown pass to Harrison Smith, and added seven carries for 36 yards and one score.
Kai Kamanu added a 41-yard reception, while Logan Thomson had four carries for 48 yards and one score, and Blake Peterson had six carries for 36 yards and one score.
Meade led the Kent City defense with six tackles, while Levi Thompson and Blake Carr each added five stops, Stinson, Keagan Zunan Chappel and Dakota Riscilli each tallied four tackles and Kamanu recorded a 30-yard interception return for a score.
Kent City (5-0, 2-0 CSAA) will travel to White Cloud (0-5, 0-2 CSAA) in Week 6.
Below is a full rundown of how all the Muskegon-area football teams fared during Week 5 of the 2025 season.
NOTE: Games will be updated as information becomes available from area coaches.

North Muskegon 29, Hart 18
The Norsemen held a narrow 14-12 lead at halftime but pulled away down the stretch to secure a hard-fought win over the Pirates in West Michigan Conference Rivers Division action.
The win also helped North Muskegon (4-1, 4-0 WMC Rivers) clinch its fourth consecutive league championship following a loss by Ravenna to Mason County Central.
Cullen Bartos fueled the North Muskegon offense with 105 yards receiving and one touchdown (49 yards) on six receptions and rushed five times for 85 yards and one touchdown. Hunter Wilder added 74 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 12 carries, while Bryce Colbert was 10-for-16 passing for 183 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
Drew Gabriel caught two passes for 52 yards and was 3-for-3 on extra point attempts, while Beckett Hoppa hauled in a 14-yard touchdown reception.
Keefe Kersman registered eight tackles and one interception to lead the North Muskegon defense, while Bartos added seven tackles, Oliver Fricke had six tackles, Clint Villalpando had five tackles and Hoppa had one fumble recovery and one interception.
Kyle Greiner rushed for 132 yards and one touchdown on 28 carries to pace the Hart offense, while Halen Boos added 46 yards on eight attempts and Keaghan Monroe added 40 yards on nine attempts.
Kolton Rockwell was 2-for-4 passing for 56 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and added a 21-yard touchdown reception on a pass from Monroe. Chase Lorenz added a 38-yard reception and Logan Jorissen had an 18-yard touchdown reception.
North Muskegon (4-1, 4-0 WMC Rivers) will host Montague (1-4) in Week 6, while Hart (2-3, 1-2 WMC Rivers) will host Mason County Central (2-3, 1-1 WMC Rivers).

Byron Center 42, Mona Shores 35
The Sailors fell behind 21-14 at halftime and couldn’t slow down the Bulldogs in the second half, as Byron Center scored on four of its final five possessions to secure a hard-fought win in OK Green Conference action.
Dominic Piggue rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries to pace Mona Shores, while Tomarion Steward added 85 yards rushing and one touchdown on 14 carries. Joe Thole was 13-for-17 passing for 173 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and rushed 12 times for 63 yards.
Bishop Davis had six receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown, Breylen Horton had two receptions for 37 yards, and Payton Koziak added a 7-yard touchdown reception.
JC Tornes, Andrew Fisher and Payton Koziak each registered five tackles to lead the Mona Shores defense.
Cam Payne led Byron Center with 215 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 27 carries, while Connor Nealon added 124 yards and one touchdown on seven carries.
Mona Shores (3-2, 1-1 OK Green) will host Muskegon (3-2, 2-0 OK Green) in Week 6.

Muskegon 40, Forest Hills Northern 21
The Big Reds jumped out to a 28-14 lead in the first half and scored on their first two possessions of the second half to fend off the Huskies for a hard-fought road win in OK Green Conference action.
Keshawn Drummer led the Muskegon offense with 196 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 22 carries, while Lamar Bradford added 68 yards rushing and one touchdown on 15 carries and was 2-for-3 passing for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
Demetrius Rainey-Brown caught two passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns, while Amiere Chandler added 28 yards rushing and one touchdown on three carries.
Dacari Johnson led the Big Red defense with eight tackles, while Charles Chatman added six tackles and one interception, Amiere Chandler had six tackles, including one sack, Recarder Kitchen had four stops and Treyvion Johnson hauled in one interception.
Muskegon (3-2, 2-0 OK Green) will travel to Mona Shores (3-2, 1-1 OK Green) in Week 6.

Fruitport 35, Comstock Park 14
The Trojans jumped out to a 29-0 lead over the Panthers in the first quarter and fended off the Panthers the rest of the way to secure an impressive win in OK Silver Conference action.
The first quarter scoring eruption for Fruitport started when Brady Hanson connected with DayDay Williams for a 54-yard touchdown pass, followed by a 23-yard touchdown pass from Hanson to Williams, a 43-yard touchdown run by sophomore Liam Campbell and a 17-yard touchdown pass from Hanson to Blair Zimmer.
The Trojans went scoreless for the next two quarters before Campbell broke free for a 35-yard touchdown run with six minutes left in regulation to help seal the win.
Hanson was 7-for-13 passing for 165 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions, while Williams added five receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Campbell rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, while Josh Eppard added 54 yards rushing on 10 carries.
Kalen Teeter led the Fruitport defense with eight tackles, while Easton Fett and Alan Jackson each added five tackles, and Mason DeVries, Zimmer, Williams and David Johnson-Jimenez each tacked on four.
Fruitport (3-2, 2-0 OK Silver) will host Belding (4-1, 3-0 OK Silver) in Week 6.

Reeths-Puffer 37, Grand Rapids Union 6
The Rockets fell behind early but reeled off 39 unanswered points to roll past the RedHawks and pick up an impressive win in OK Green Conference action.
Cole Piper opened up the scoring for Reeths-Puffer with a 13-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, followed by a 4-yard touchdown pass from Braylon Swain to Connor McManus and a 35-yard punt return for a score from Cole Piper, which gave the Rockets a 20-6 lead at halftime.
Reeths-Puffer pulled away in the third quarter with a 45-yard touchdown run by Piper, a 7-yard rushing touchdown from Millis and a 23-yard field goal from Evan McHugh.
Piper finished with 163 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 16 carries, while Millis added 72 yards rushing and one touchdown on 15 carries. Swain was 13-for-24 passing for 121 yards, Mason Darke had six catches for 59 yards and McManus had four receptions for 30 yards.
Hunter Adams led the Reeths-Puffer defense with eight tackles, while Millis added five stops.
Reeths-Puffer (2-3, 1-1 OK Green) will host Forest Hills Northern (2-3, 1-1 OK Green) in Week 6.

West Ottawa 37, Grand Haven 16
The Panthers took a 14-10 lead into halftime and outscored the Buccaneers 23-6 the rest of the way as they picked up an impressive win in OK Red Conference action.
Abel Anaya was 13-for-22 passing for 206 yards and four touchdowns and rushed eight times for 55 yards to pace the West Ottawa offense, while Elijah Reynolds caught five passes for 80 yards and three touchdowns. The Central Michigan University commit missed the previous two and a half games with a torn labrum but returned to have a huge impact on Friday night’s contest.
Caleb Montgomery rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries, Jeremiah Edwards had 26 yards rushing on 10 carries, Quentin Edwards had two receptions for 63 yards and JT Gill added four catches for 53 yards and one touchdown.
Anaya registered eight tackles to lead the West Ottawa defense, while C.J. Traylor added six stops and Kaleb Morley and Christian Dewitt each had four stops.
Easton Hintz was 21-for-41 passing for 199 yards with one touchdown and one interception to pace Grand Haven on offense, while KV Korenstra added 34 yards rushing and one touchdown on 14 carries and caught eight passes for 74 yards.
Lennon Joregenson caught eight passes for 55 yards, Amani Frierson had four receptions for 55 yards and Samer Konda had a 15-yard touchdown reception.
Grand Haven (1-4, 0-3 OK Red) will travel to Caledonia (2-3, 0-3 OK Red) in Week 6.

Oakridge 41, Fremont 16
The Eagles jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first half and continued to roll past the Packers for a dominant win in West Michigan Conference Lakes Division action.
Jayden Dailey got the scoring started early for Oakridge, as he returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown. Parker Williamsen added a 51-yard touchdown run a few minutes later, followed by a 4-yard rushing touchdown from Dailey and Logen Huston tacked on a 13-yard touchdown pass to Rodrick Parks Jr. midway through the second quarter.
Jordan Guerrero-McGrady added touchdown runs of 12 and 16 yards in the third quarter to extend the Oakridge lead to 41-0.
Karter Frens got Fremont going in the fourth quarter with a 34-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a 9-yard touchdown pass from Aiden Hunt to Gabe Hulst in the closing moments of the game.
Frens finished with a game-high 107 yards rushing to pace Fremont on offense, while Hunt added 39 yards rushing and was 6-for-13 passing for 27 yards and Hulst had five receptions for 29 yards.
Williamson finished with 71 yards on three carries to pace Oakridge, while Guerrero-McGrady added 56 yards on 11 carries. Huston was 5-for-9 passing for 69 yards with a touchdown, while Parks Jr. caught four passes for 57 yards.
Preston Six led the Oakridge defense with nine tackles, while Guerrero-McGrady and Williamson each added five tackles and Brett Kroll had four stops.
Oakridge (4-1, 4-1 WMC Lakes) will travel to Whitehall (4-1, 3-0 WMC Lakes) in Week 6, while Fremont (1-4, 0-3 WMC Lakes) will host Orchard View (2-3, 1-3 WMC Lakes).

Whitehall 46, Manistee 0
The Vikings jumped out to a 26-0 lead in the first half and continued to roll past the Mariners for a convincing win in West Michigan Conference Lakes Division action.
Cole Essebaggers was 4-for-7 passing for 111 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed eight times for 94 yards and three touchdowns to pace the Vikings on offense, while Liam Leeke added 65 yards rushing on 13 carries.
Corde Anderson caught two passes for 74 yards and one touchdown, Hunter Osborne added 46 yards rushing and one touchdown on four carries, and Cody Manzo rushed five times for 13 yards and one score.
Anderson led the Whitehall defense with nine tackles, while Hunter Peterson and Caden Bowyer each added four stops.
Dayvion Neal-Berry was 7-for-12 passing for 49 yards and rushed eight times for 20 yards to lead Manistee, while Landin Sowa rushed nine times for 19 yards and Braylen Zimmerman added three receptions for 20 yards.
Whitehall (4-1, 3-0 WMC Lakes) will host Oakridge (4-1, 4-1 WMC Lakes) in Week 6, while Manistee (2-3, 1-3 WMC Lakes) will host Ludington (5-0, 3-0 WMC Lakes).

Ludington 49, Montague 0
The Orioles took a 21-0 lead into halftime and pulled away in the second half for a dominant road win over the Wildcats in West Michigan Conference Lakes Division action.
Cam Gunsell was 16-for-20 passing for 330 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 15 times for 66 yards and three more scores to pace Ludington, while Taj Williams caught five passes for 169 yards and one touchdown, and Mikey Himes caught three passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns and added 40 yards rushing on four carries.
Kyle Himes Jr. added two catches for 59 yards and Messiah Himes added a 17-yard reception.
Cooper Holmes led the Ludington defense with eight tackles, while Gunsell added seven tackles and one interception and Messiah Himes added seven tackles and an interception return for a score.
Devlin Dean led Montague with 61 yards rushing on 21 carries, while Eli Petersen added 44 yards rushing on 12 carries and Cooper Bradley had 30 yards rushing on eight carries.
Kian Peters anchored the Montague defense with nine tackles, while Dane Roesler hauled in an interception.
Ludington (5-0, 3-0 WMC Lakes) will travel to Manistee (2-3, 1-3 WMC Lakes) in Week 6, while Montague (1-4, 1-3 WMC Lakes) will travel to North Muskegon (4-1, 4-0 WMC Rivers).

Orchard View 39, Muskegon Catholic Central 7
The Cardinals jumped out to a 19-0 lead in the first half and continued to pull away from the Crusaders the rest of the game, as they picked up an impressive road win in non-conference action.
Ca’Mari Reese powered the Orchard View attack, as he rushed for 190 yards and four touchdowns on only eight attempts, with scoring plays of 28, 11, 75 and 43 yards. Chris Theile added 95 yards and one touchdown on five carries, while Corey McCain had 57 yards and one touchdown on nine carries.
Kenyon McCauley led the Orchard View defense with 10.5 tackles and a fumble recovery, while
Lawrence Spencer added 8.5 stops, McCain had 7.5 tackles, Kobe Spann had 6.5 tackles and La’brent Wilkerson had 5.5 stops.
Timmy Railling led Muskegon Catholic with 101 yards rushing on 27 carries, while Bode Zygmuntowski added 100 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries.
Zygmuntowski led the Crusader defense with 7.5 tackles and Joe Schneller had 5.5 stops.
Orchard View (2-3, 1-3 WMC Lakes) will travel to Fremont (1-4, 0-3 WMC Lakes) in Week 6, while Muskegon Catholic Central (2-3) will host Shelby (3-2).

Grand Rapids West Catholic 21, Spring Lake 14
The Lakers took a 14-7 lead over the Falcons in the second quarter but were shut out the rest of the contest, as West Catholic scored with less than four minutes remaining in the game to secure a narrow road win in OK White Conference action.
Jack Nash scored both of Spring Lake’s touchdowns on Friday night, including a 92-yard interception return for a score in the second quarter.
Spring Lake (2-3, 0-2 OK White) will host Wayland (2-3, 1-1 OK White) in Week 6.

Remus Chippewa Hills 34, Grant 13
Kohen Obenauf led the Tigers with 108 yards rushing and one touchdown on 14 carries and caught two passes for 33 yards, while Jayden Newton added a 1-yard touchdown run and was 3-for-8 passing for 69 yards and Jayden Avink added a 36-yard reception.
Obenauf also led the Grant defense with eight tackles, while Darien McKinney added seven stops, Jesse DeHaan had 6.5 tackles, Gage Rasch had 5.5 tackles and Paul Bonney had five tackles, including one sack.
Grant (1-4, 0-3 CSAA Red) will host Newaygo (0-5, 0-3 CSAA Red) in Week 6.

Mason County Central 18, Ravenna 15
The Spartans built an 18-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter and had to fend off a late rally from the Bulldogs to secure a hard-fought win in West Michigan Conference Rivers Division action.
Pierce Bladzik was 10-for-15 passing for 260 yards with two touchdowns and one interception to lead Mason County Central, while Eli Smith had five receptions for 142 yards and one touchdown and Ty Norton caught four passes for 113 yards and one score.
Kaden Ruiz rushed for 68 yards on 17 attempts and Brandon Peters added a 1-yard touchdown run.
Jaxson Wilburn rushed for 70 yards on 13 carries to pace Ravenna on offense, while Dylan May rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown on eight carries and was 4-for-12 passing for 53 yards.
Brady Karchinski caught four passes for 95 yards and one touchdown, including a 53-yard scoring strike from Ryley Krepps.
May led the Ravenna defense with seven tackles, while Colton Rolison added six tackles.
Mason County Central (2-3, 1-1 WMC Rivers) will travel to Hart (2-3, 1-2 WMC Rivers) in Week 6, while Ravenna (2-3, 1-2 WMC Rivers) will travel to Hesperia (1-4, 0-2 WMC Rivers).

Marcellus 64, Muskegon Heights Academy 12
The Tigers fell behind 46-6 in the first half and couldn’t mount a comeback the rest of the way, as they fell to Marcellus on Friday night.
Demetrius Purnell scored on a 3-yard touchdown run to start the scoring for Muskegon Heights in the second quarter, while Tayshaun Moody added an 82-yard kickoff return for a score in the third quarter.
Muskegon Heights Academy (2-3) will host Martin (5-0) in Week 6.
