Anambra Guber Poll: AAC Candidate, Ifemeludike, Sure Of Victory, Denies Withdrawal From Election

Chioma Ifemeludike, the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate in the forthcoming November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, has denied her alleged withdrawal from the race, saying that she is in the race to win.

Ifemeludike, who spoke to SUNDAY INDEPENDENT on Saturday from her Anambra State base, denied the speculations in some quarters in the state that she had withdrawn from the governorship race.

The AAC candidate described her alleged withdrawal from the race as fake news orchestrated by people who do not want the state to grow beyond its current stage.

According to her, the rumour of her withdrawal was false, saying it was the evil machinations of those who had held the state captive for so long and a demonstration of shallowness that had characterised their governance style.

“I am still very much in the race to save my people from bad governance. I am in the race to lead Anambra State to the next level.

“My candidacy has been massively accepted by the good people of Anambra State and any individual, group or political party speculating this falsehood against my aspiration is doing so to deny Ndi-Anambra an all-inclusive governance.

“There is nothing true about it. I am still very much in the race. I can’t step down for anybody.

“I think I have said this earlier before now, and let me reiterate it again. No candidate in this election represents Anambra people like I do. No candidate has better plans for Ndi-Anambra like I do.

“I am the only candidate that is passionate about the welfare of the people and l am assuring them that when I become the governor come November 8, they will see a different leadership.

“I didn’t have any interest to step down or working with anyone who standard and principles are not in line with mine, and as long as the campaign lasts, as long as Chioma’s name is still on the ballot, I will fight to the finishing line,” Ifemeludike vowed.

This is as her campaign organisation, the Chioma4Governor Campaign and Talent Discovery Initiative team, expressed gratitude to those who joined them for the successful opening of her Talent Discovery Initiative on September 20, 2025, at All Saints’ Anglican Church Field, Amenyi-Awka.

The talent hunt event, which was not a campaign flag-off, was described as a celebration of youth empowerment, showcasing talents in music, soccer, and drama among Ndị Anambra.

Speaking through a statement made available to Sunday Independent in Lagos at the weekend, Ifemeludike, sincerely thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Region 34, Delta State, where she worships, for their support and presence.

She expressed deepest appreciation to the general public, the talented performers, who lit up the stage, and every individual who contributed in making the day memorable. Your turnout and enthusiasm reflect the spirit of unity and hope we aim to nurture.

She said: “Moving forward, we remain committed to the ongoing Talent Discovery Initiative tournament, which will run through matches and the grand finale on November 6, 2025.

“Simultaneously, the Chioma4Governor Campaign will intensify efforts to engage grassroots communities across Anambra.

“We will visit towns and villages, sharing our policies, such as improved education, agricultural development, guaranteed security and youth empowerment-and explaining why the African Action Congress (AAC) is the best choice for Ndi Anambra.

“Chioma Grace Ifemeludike embodies visionary leadership, offering good governance that prioritises the people’s needs.

“We invite continued support as we journey toward a brighter future. Vote AAC, vote Chioma, Together, let’s build a thriving Anambra.”
