Mumbai: Rajat Bedi, who has returned to the spotlight with Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba**ds of Bollywood, has revealed the unusual condition he placed before signing on to the project. The actor, known for films like Koi Mil Gaya and Yeh Dil Aashiqana, has received praise for his role in the show.
A call from Aryan Khan and a surprising request
In a recent interview, Rajat Bedi recalled that when the production team first approached him, he was in Canada. On learning that Aryan Khan himself wanted to meet him, he was stunned. “I thought I was dreaming,” he shared.
When Aryan narrated the story of the series, Bedi said he felt “overwhelmed and excited.” However, before giving his nod, he asked to be connected with Shah Rukh Khan. Over a phone call with the superstar, Bedi asked, “Sir, what have you done? Aapka beta kya bana raha hai (What is your son making)?” To this, SRK reportedly replied, “Dekh le tereko karna hai toh… mera beta kuch kar raha hai (See if you want to do it… my son is making something).”
‘Only if you allow my son to assist you’
At that point, Bedi put forth one condition to Aryan Khan. “I’ll only do your project if you allow my son to assist you. I started my career with your father, my son will start his career with you,” he revealed. Aryan agreed, and the deal was sealed.
Since then, Bedi proudly shared, his son Vivaan has been working with Aryan Khan as an assistant for the past two years.

The actor said that The Ba**ds of Bollywood has opened new doors for him, with multiple offers pouring in since the series premiered. However, he emphasised that he intends to take his time and choose his next project carefully. “This time, I want to be selective,” he said, hinting at a fresh chapter in his career.
