Dermot Desmond spotted at Ryder Cup as Celtic fans plan three-game silent protest

As Celtic supporters continue to voice their discontent with the board and the management of the club, chief Dermot Desmond has been spotted at the Ryder Cup. The largest individual shareholder in the Scottish champions has been under fire alongside CEO Michael Nicholson and executive chairman Peter Lawwell following a disappointing transfer window. Being knocked out of the Champions League only exacerbated the situation, and fans have been expressing their dissatisfaction. Many waited outside for the first 12 minutes of the recent away win over Kilmarnock before taking their seats. There were banners and signs calling for change at the top at Firhill as Celtic cruised into the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals against Kilmarnock. Now fans have announced a three game silent protest, starting with this afternoon’s Premiership clash at home to Hibs as anger shows little sign if dissipating. Desmond won’t be there to experience it, however. The Irishman is with compatriot and fellow business tycoon JP McManus in New York, following the action at Bethpage Black. The pair, along with Limerick hurling manager John Kiely, followed the morning foursome pairing of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood – Fleetwood Mac to golf fans – as they dismantled Collin Morikawa and Harris English 5and4. Desmond won’t have far to go for the 2027 Ryder Cup. It will take place at Adare Manor, Co Limerick in Ireland – the course owned by pal McManus.
