We spend around one-third of our lifetime sleeping, so it’s only natural that you want to be as comfortable as possible in bed. As well as investing in one of the best mattresses for your sleep style and budget, it’s important not to overlook your pillow.

I know from researching and testing the best pillows of 2025 that budget plays a big part in the pillow that you buy. However, price shouldn’t be an obstacle to getting a pillow that suits your sleep style.
With this in mind, I decided to compare our top budget pick, the Beckham Hotel Collection with one of the most luxurious pillows I’ve tested recently: the Purple GridCloud.

After regular sales, the Purple is more than double the price of the Beckham. But there’s more to choosing a pillow than price, so I’ll walk you through how they compare when it comes to comfort and support for different sleepers. Let’s get started…

Beckham Hotel Collection vs Purple GridCloud pillow: Price & deals

Beckham Hotel Collection roughly comes up to $30 for a queen pillow
Purple GridCloud is a premium-priced pillow at $149 with standard benefits
Beckham pillows is an Amazon bestseller with over 250,000 rave reviews
The Beckham Hotel Collection pillows are priced at $59.99 for a queen double pack and $79.99 for two king sizes. This means a single queen pillow will cost you roughly $30.

We’ve spotted it up to 25% off during major sale events like Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday, which drops the MSRP of a set of queen pillows to $45, which further lowers the price of a single pillow ($22.5).
The Purple GridCloud launched earlier this year and comes only in a standard size, priced $149 for one pillow.
While we haven’t seen the GridCloud as part of the larger Purple mattress sales, the best offer we’ve found till now is the 10% off a pack of two pillows which drops the MSRP from $298 to $268.
Aside from the lack of better discounts, the Purple GridCloud has a major advantage over the Beckham in terms of sleep benefits: a 30-night trial, one-year warranty and free shipping.
However, it’s pretty obvious that the Beckham Hotel Collection pillow most definitely has the upper hand in terms of both price and deals, even without having any sleep benefits to offer users.

Beckham Hotel Collection vs Purple GridCloud pillow: Design & materials

Beckham pillows require time to expand before first use
The GridCloud pillow feature Purple’s signature GelFlex grid
The Purple GridCloud holds its shape all night long, while the Beckham requires some fluffing
The OEKO-TEX certified Beckham Hotel Collection down-alternative pillow features a simple fuss-free design. As the name suggests, it consists of down-like 100% polyester fiber encased in a 250 thread count cotton cover which is both soft-to-touch and moisture-wicking.
The Purple GridCloud, on the other hand, is designed to offer a ‘floating sensation’ thanks to the combination of plush down-alternative fiber fill and the brand’s signature GelFlex grid added in to deliver consistent pressure relief and breathability.

The soft and stretchy top cover is hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking and breathable which can be good news for those prone to sleep hot.
The biggest advantage of the GridCloud is its lasting support due to the silicone-coated down-alternative fill (which prevents flattening) and GelFlex grid, giving it an edge over the Beckham Hotel Collection Pillow.
Beckham Hotel Collection vs Purple GridCloud pillow: Comfort and support

Beckham pillows are super plush yet supportive
The GelFlex layer in Purple GridCloud promotes responsive support and breathability
GridCloud pillow rarely need to be re-adjusted
I largely found the Beckham Hotel Collection down-alternative pillow to be extremely plush for all sleeping styles, including the much-debated stomach position. This mirrors the experience our tester reports in her Beckham Hotel Collection Down-Alternative pillow review.
In comparison, the GridCloud can only be described as a significant upgrade. During the Purple GridCloud pillow review period, I found it to exactly deliver what the brand advertises: “sleeping on a cloud designed specifically for you.”

Among the top three things which make the Purple GridCloud my current favorite pillow, the highlight is its overall comfort and support for side sleepers. It comes at the right loft and firmness for side sleeping and back sleeping, striking a balance of fluffy comfort, subtle pressure relief for your neck and shoulders and responsive support. However, stomach sleepers will likely find it too tall to sleep comfortably on.
As a fan of low maintenance pillows, the GridCloud also scores points since the silicone-coated fibers and GelFlex Grid layer together eliminate the need for constant re-shuffling or adjustments.
It is tricky to find a winner here, since the Beckham down-alternative pillow is a great option considering its budget price point, while the GridCloud goes the extra mile in terms of comfort, support and breathability for specific sleeping styles.
Beckham Hotel Collection vs Purple GridCloud pillow: Which should you buy?
Buy the Beckham Hotel Collection Pillow if…
✅ You’re a combination sleeper: The medium-loft Beckham Hotel Collection moulds to your sleeping style even though you’re a stomach, side or back sleeper.
✅ You have a limited budget: At $59.99 for two pillows, the Beckham Hotel Collection offers great value.
✅ You prefer a simple design: The Beckham pillows come with a plush down-alternative fill encased in a breathable cotton cover. No more and no less.

✅ You need a supportive pillow: The silicone-coated down-alternative fiber fill paired with the GelFlex grid results in consistent responsive support without the need for constant fluffing or readjustments.
✅ You want to try before you buy: While it’s expensive, the Purple GridCloud comes with a 30-night sleep trial, one-year warranty and free shipping as opposed to the Beckham which doesn’t offer any of these benefits.
