We’re somehow already heading into October, and that means Prime Video — like all the best streaming services — is poised to bring its subscribers a fresh batch of new TV shows and movies (and don’t forget October Prime Day is coming up, too).
If you’re looking for a comprehensive breakdown of everything new on Prime Video in October 2025 (and a selection of shows and movies you shouldn’t miss out on), I’ve got you covered. This month, you can look forward to streaming everything from a new heist movie with Mark Wahlberg, a reinterpretation of a classic play and a new Prime Video romantic comedy.

“Play Dirty” could well be the closest thing to “The Nice Guys” sequel I’ve always been waiting for, and I’m glad I don’t have to wait too much longer to watch it.
This new action-thriller movie (helmed by Shane Black) is based on the “Parker” books by Donald E. Westlake, penned under the Richard Stark pseudonym. Here, expert thief Parker (Mark Wahlberg) works alongside Grofield (LaKeith Stanfield), Zen (Rosa Salazar) to pull off an epic heist that pits Parker and his skilled crew against the New York mob.

‘Maintenance Required’

“Maintenance Required” is a new romantic comedy directed and written by Lacey Uhlemeyer. The new movie sees “Riverdale” and “The Strangers” star Madelaine Petsch stepping into frame as Charlie, the fiercely independent owner of an all-female mechanic shop.
When a corporate competitor sets up shop across the street from her business, Charlie turns to an anonymous online confidant for comfort … unaware she’s actually confiding in Beau (Jacob Scipio), who just so happens to be the rival that has her worried in the first place.

‘Harlan Coben’s Lazarus’

If you’ve watched your fair share of the streaming world’s releases, you’ll surely recognize the name Harlan Coben, as many of the writer’s works have been turned into popular releases for the likes of Prime Video and Netflix in recent years.
Enter “Lazarus,” a new psychological thriller based on an original idea and written by the New York Times best-selling author and BAFTA-winner, Danny Brocklehurst (“Missing You,” “Fool Me Once,” “Brassic”).
Here, we meet Joel Lazarus (Sam Claflin), a man who returns home after his father (Bill Nighy) dies by suicide. Joel soon starts having unexplainable, disturbing experiences, and soon becomes entangled in a series of cold-case murders as he grapples with the mystery not only of his father’s death, but also of his sister’s murder 25 years prior.

Ahead of the release of her”28 Years Later” sequel, “The Bone Temple” in January 2026, writer-director Nia DaCosta is bringing us what Prime Video calls a “provocative and modern reimagining” of one of playwright Henrik Ibsen’s most well-known works: “Hedda Gabler.”
The new release introduces us to newlywed Hedda (played by Tessa Thompson), who is “outwardly composed but hiding a simmering discontent that threatens to explode when the brilliant and charismatic Eileen Lovberg (Nina Hoss) reenters her life.” What follows is “a ruthless game of manipulation, where lust, jealousy and betrayal collide” (as the streamer’s synopsis puts it).

Almost two years after the first season took Prime Video by storm and set a streaming record for the largest global debut viewership for a new animated title in January 2024, “Hazbin Hotel” season 2 is heading our way at the end of October.
Vivienne Medrano’s musical adult animated series follows Charlie (Erika Henningsen), the princess of Hell, who sets out to rehabilitate demons in a hotel, so that her patrons can check out and head to Heaven.
Season 2 finds the hotel booming with new residents, though many aren’t checking in for the right reasons. Worse still, resentment against Heaven is growing, and “the Vees” are looking to capitalize on the growing tension and maybe even take the realm over for themselves.
