Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Turkish Minister of National Defence Yasar Güler at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday during his visit to Pakistan as co-chair of the Pakistan-Turkiye Joint Ministerial Commission.
Welcoming the Turkish delegation, the prime minister highlighted the historic and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, rooted in shared culture, history, and mutual respect. He expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and defence.
Referring to his recent meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the SCO summit in China, PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of regular high-level engagement to further enhance Pak-Turkiye relations. He emphasised the need to achieve the mutually agreed goal of USD 5 billion in bilateral trade and invited Turkish businesses to explore Pakistan’s investor-friendly environment.
Both leaders reiterated their firm support for each other’s core national interests and agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership across multiple sectors. The meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by the prime minister in honour of the Turkish Defence Minister and members of the Joint Ministerial Commission.
