Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. has said that Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) centres should be established at every ward secretariat office.
After inspecting the RRR centre set up at Raghavayya Park in the city on Thursday, Mr. Dhyanachandra said there are RRR centres in all the 64 wards of the VMC. In addition to these, there are nine special RRR centres as well.
Now, the VMC is planning a RRR centre at all secretariat offices falling under the civic body’s limits. The decision has been made as part of the ongoing ‘Swachhostav- Swachhta Hi Seva’ drive.
Mr. Dhyanachandra said people can bring used steel utensils, clothes, books, papers, slippers, shoes, electronic equipment, and other materials to their nearest RRR centre or to the ward secretariat office.
Through this initiative, measures will be taken to reduce waste, reuse and recycle materials, he said.
The Municipal Commissioner appreciated the citizens who were donating books at these centres. He appealed to the citizens to spread awareness about these centres among their friends and neighbours.
VMC Chief Medical Officer K. Arjuna Rao, Assistant Medical Health Officer Babu Srinivas, and staff members participated in the programme.
