Met Office updates yellow weather warning to include nine regions of UK - full list

The Met Office has increased the number of regions impacted by its latest yellow weather wind warning. Yesterday, September 11, four regions were pinpointed to be primarily impacted by windy conditions set to hit Britain between 8pm on Sunday, September 14 and 6pm on Monday, September 15, however, this has since been updated to include nine UK areas this morning (September 12). This includes both the West Midlands and the East Midlands, with UK households urged to be prepared for “some disruption.” Experts at the Met Office wrote: ” Strong and gusty winds are likely to cause some disruption to travel and interruptions to power. Winds will only slowly ease from the west later in the afternoon and into Monday evening.” Weather specialists explained the reason for the update at 9.45am this morning was due to a “higher likelihood of lower impacts and extended over a larger area of England and Wales.” The Met Office went on to explain what Brits should expect due to the weather conditions, explaining there could be some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport. It added: “It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves. “Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer. “Some short term loss of power and other services is possible. “Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.” The Met Office has also included advice on what Brits should do to prepare for the conditions, with the specialists adding: “Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary. “People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items. Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea. “Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. “Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.”
