Northern has issued a travel warning ahead of engineering works set to cause disruption across Greater Manchester this weekend. Bus replacement services will be in place across the region and certain routes will be changed. Buses will replace trains between Manchester and Bolton Wigan Wallgate on Saturday September 13 and Sunday September 14. Salford Crescent station will also be closed on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September as Network Rail continues the upgrade of Salford Crescent with the addition of a new third platform. Replacement vehicles are expected to be busier than usual, and National Rail is urging customers to allow extra time for your journey. The network is also suggesting travellers plan their journey using the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner before travelling and to visit the Network Rail’s Salford Upgrades and the Rail Replacement Services web page for more information.
