Love cheesy rom-coms? Netflix has just added the perfect watch for you. Netflix has just dropped a new romantic comedy starring “iCarly’s” Miranda Cosgrove. Introducing: “The Wrong Paris,” a new watch that sees the star play a small-town Texan gal who enrolls in a “Bachelor”-style dating show.

If you want to get a very quick idea about the type of movie you’re in for, right off the bat, “The Wrong Paris” is helmed by Janeen Damian, who previously directed Lindsay Lohan in “Irish Wish” and “Falling for Christmas.”
If you saw “The Wrong Paris” trailer, you’ll know what to expect: a Hallmark-esque watch, one of dating show mishaps and pure Netflix cheese. If that’s a combo you like the sound of, “The Wrong Paris” might just be the watch for you.

Trying to decide whether to stream “The Wrong Paris” on Netflix this weekend? Here’s a little more info about Netflix’s newest rom-com, along with my initial “The Wrong Paris” reaction.

What is ‘The Wrong Paris’ about?

The Wrong Paris | Miranda Cosgrove and Pierson Fodé | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Janeen Damian’s “The Wrong Paris” follows small-town Texan artist Dawn (Miranda Cosgrove) on a wild adventure into the world of reality TV. After bagging a spot at a Parisian art school, she soon realizes she can’t afford to move there.
Her sister then hatches a brilliant plan: her favorite dating show, “The Honeypot,” is casting for a new season set in Paris, and it’s offering a hefty appearance fee that could help Dawn realize her dreams. After some convincing, Dawn applies, planning to get herself eliminated by the show’s latest eligible bachelor at the earliest opportunity so she can stay in France for school.
Problem is, when she and the other contestants step off the plane, they find they’re actually staying in Paris, Texas (just 45 minutes down the road). Worse, the show’s cowboy heartthrob, Trey (Pierson Fodé), turns out to be more alluring than Dawn suspected…

In addition to Cosgrove and Fodé, “The Wrong Paris” also stars Yvonne Orji, Frances Fisher, Emilija Baranac, Madison Pettis, Madeleine Arthur, Torrance Coombs, Chrstin Park and Hannah Stocking, among others.
Should you stream ‘The Wrong Paris’ on Netflix?

If you aren’t a fan of Netflix’s brand of rom-coms, then you might as well look away now, as “The Wrong Paris” isn’t exactly Oscar bait. This is another movie that fits into that brand of snackable, easy watches.
It both mocks and contains dating show stereotypes, boasts some hammy acting, and every single predictable “twist” in the book. It also genuinely contains the line “maybe it wasn’t the wrong Paris after all,” delivered sincerely. If that doesn’t sound like your idea of fun, “The Wrong Paris” won’t be for you.

It also feels like a movie that was rushed out the door with little regard for the final product. It’s plagued by haphazard editing and distracting frame warping throughout, neither of which screams “quality filmmaking.” And yet… I’d be lying if I said I hated my viewing experience.

I’m not about to launch into an impassioned defence of “The Wrong Paris” — a good film this ain’t. However, as someone who has a relatively high tolerance for this specific genre of romance, I did find myself kind of charmed by the whole affair.
Tonally, “The Wrong Paris” feels knowingly silly, and there’s some fun to be had in the way it leans into the ridiculous tropes of reality TV. I was genuinely surprised that it got a few laughs out of me, and thought Miranda was solid in the lead role (though admittedly, she’s better at the comedy than the romance side of things).
In short, Netflix’s latest movie is not deserving of a spot on anyone’s “best movies of 2025” list. However, if you have a high tolerance for Netflix cheese or find yourself gravitating to the Hallmark Channel around the holidays, “The Wrong Paris” might just belong on your Netflix watchlist this weekend.
