Ramayana is fast emerging as the most eagerly awaited film of 2026, with expectations that it will dominate the box office on a scale rarely seen in Indian cinema. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra along with a Hollywood team, the ambitious project is a two-part epic envisioned on an unprecedented canvas. For the same, AR Rahman has teamed up with Interstellar composer Hans Zimmer for the music of Ramayana. On the celebrated musician’s birthday today, September 12, Namit Malhotra extended his wishes to Zimmer and shared a note about the film.
The creators of Ramayana have assembled leading talent from around the globe, bringing together cutting-edge production design, spectacular music, and immersive storytelling. Fueling the anticipation, Namit Malhotra marked a special occasion on social media, sharing a heartfelt birthday greeting for the film’s legendary music composer, Hans Zimmer. The post featured a rare photograph of Malhotra with Zimmer and AR Rahman, instantly creating a stir among fans thrilled by the collaboration between two of the world’s most celebrated composers.

Zimmer and Rahman, both Oscar winners, are joining forces to create a musical score designed to redefine the sonic scale of epic cinema. Rooted in India’s cherished mythology and set 5,000 years in the past, Ramayana promises to transcend entertainment, presenting itself as an enduring cultural heritage.
Ramayana’s unveiling has already made headlines worldwide. Its first look was launched across two continents, with a nine-city rollout in India and a dazzling showcase at New York’s Times Square, where massive visuals and advanced VFX drew rapturous applause.

Featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, the movie aims to be a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. Produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part saga will release in IMAX: Part 1 during Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
