One of the best movie trilogies of all time quietly drops on Netflix perfect to binge this weekend

One of the best movie trilogies of all time has quietly dropped on Netflix and it’s perfect to binge this weekend. It’s always a pain when you’re sitting at home ready to spend a weekend on the couch, only to realise you don’t know what to watch . Countless hours have been lost on deciding what content is worth spending your hard earned time off work with. One thing that has grown popular in recent years is binging an entire film franchise in one sitting, with movie marathons all the range on TikTok. When it comes to which series is the bestto this with, there’s a lot of contenders, for example the Twilight series stars pulling people in the minute the nights become darker. Other people feel that having a laugh is the best way to go about things, turning to the likes of the Rush Hour, Beverly Hills Cop or The Hangover series. A bigger challenge is taking in the original The Lord of The Rings trilogy from start to finish, with the extended cuts clocking in at a staggering 11 hours. Netflix may have dropped the solution to all of our prayers by releasing every single part of The Godfather on Thursday (September 25). Based on the acclaimed Mario Puzo novel, The Godfather hit big screens all the way back in 1972 and was created by Francis Ford Coppola. Starring Al Pacino in his breakout role as Michael Corleone, the film follows him trying to take over the family business after an assantion attempt on Marlon Brando’s Don Vito Corleone. Full of thrills and iconic moments, the film also features James Caan, Richard Castellano, Robert Duvall and Diane Keaton. Racing to a Best Picture victory, it took just two years for The Godfather Part II to arrive, which introduced Robert De Niro as a younger version of Vito. The film is in part both a sequel and a prequel, presenting two parallel dramas as Michael adjusts to being the Don of the Corleone crime family as he fears someone will betray him. Once again scooping the big prize at the Oscars, The Godfather Part III wasn’t released until 1990, but failed to reach the heights of its predecessors. Part III sees Michael trying to legitimize his criminal empire amid the rise of his brother Sonny’s illegitimate son Vincent Corleone, played by Andy Garcia. Netflix have wisely gone against the theatrical version in favour of 2020’s The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, a red-edited version of the film that Coppola says ‘vindicates its status among the trilogy. Whether you’ve seen the trilogy a million times or you’re a newcomer, there’s never a bad time to let The Godfather pull you in.
