Asantehemaa Dɔte Yie: Mahama Commiserates With Asantehene

The President of Ghana, HE John Dramani Mahama, has commiserated with the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, over the passing of the Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

After missing out on the One-Week Observation due to an international trip, the President joined the Asante Kingdom in person for the final day’s burial rites of the Asantehemaa.

The Presidency donated ¢300,000 and drinks to support the rites.

Among the delegation of the President were the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, and the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi.

Other dignitaries present are Eswatini Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and Deputy Eswatini Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla, Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and Former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Former Second Lady Samira Bawumia, former First Lady Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings, IGP Christian Yohunu, BoG Governor Dr Johnson Asiamah and others also joined.

The final day of the burial rites will later witness the laying to rest of the late Asantehemaa, with her ancestors at the royal mausoleum at Breman Abusuakruwa.

The rites commenced on Monday, September 15.

The event has been joined by various dignitaries, either as groups or individuals, from across the country and beyond to commiserate with Asanteman and the King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

A key point to note is the institution of the restriction on outdoor movement effective 7 pm on September 18 to make way for the burial of Asantehemaa.
