AI will cause financial crash within three years and leave us all drug-taking zombies - expert

The emergence of AI will spark a financial crash worse than 2008 levels and leave us all like zombies, boffins fear. And they also reckon the UK’s economy will nosedive within the next three years with another Great Depression on the way imminently. Science boffins say government policies will backfire and cause job losses around the world, causing a dystopian future in which people are forced to live off the state and turn to zombie-like drugs like fentanyl – so cheers Artificial Intelligence. Computer science expert Subhash Kak warned: “In 2008 the financial crash occurred because the banks were lending money to people who were not really qualified, so there was too much lending and the money couldn’t be brought back so the banks became insolvent. Do you think he’s right? Have your say in comments below “Now what’s happening worldwide, according to the most conservative accounts, is that the total amount of bank debt is about $100trillion and there are certain estimates which say that it’s actually even more, maybe $200trillion to $300trillion. “So this whole system could come crashing down because there is too much imbalance right now. What Trump is trying to do with his nationalist perspective is he wants to bring all the companies back to the US. “I’m not saying that there is no imbalance right now, but then there will be a different kind of imbalance and if that imbalance occurs much too quickly, then then the whole system could come crashing down.” He added that AI is also not helping the situation. He said: “AI is the big shadow behind all of these events, jobs are disappearing forever. That’s the huge shadow and that’s the reason why. “The other problem due to AI is the population collapse, especially in Europe and the US and in Asia, countries like Japan, China and India.” And Kak believes that the downturn in money and the push on AI could result in us all turning into zombies using drugs. He added: “I wouldn’t say it’s irreparable, human societies are extremely resilient. But something new will have to be put together. “Many leaders say that because of AI, because of huge job losses, we need a universal basic income. So people get a certain amount of money, say in the US $500 or $1000 per person, and there’s no jobs. People will feel depressed, so they have food, they can get hot dogs or whatever else. They get fast food. “Then they spend their time watching movies and a lot of people do that and drugs, addictions. If they have no other thing in life to look forward to. If they’re not gainfully employed or they have very low self esteem, it will happen.”
